J-STD-001 Space AddendumThe IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum Course is an optional course requiring and additional 4 hours of training and additional testing time. It is taught in Specialist and Trainer formats each requirement expressed below.
The IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum (CIS) (Module 6) and IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum CIT provides additional requirements beyond those issued in the IPC J-STD-001 Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies. The Space Addendum sets the requirements for specific products that must survive rigorous vibration and thermal cyclic environments for operating in space. The IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum CIS is not a stand-alone document, it requires the student to be currently certified to the J-STD-001 Module 1 and one additional module: 2,3, 4, or 5. There is an additional requirement of an 80% grade score or better to qualify for certification. 620 Space Addendum (IPC/WHMA-A-620DS)The 620 Space addendum sets the requirements for specific products that must survive rigorous vibration and thermal cyclic environments for operating in space. This course requires the participant to already be certified to all modules for CIS and for CIT prior Hands-on experience building Cables required.
For participants taking the IPC/WHMA-A-620 space addendum, this is a 5-day course requiring additional Hands-on testing where the student must build 3 separate cable harness assemblies and assemble them into a box build. All workmanship must meet the requirements of the IPC/WHMA-A-620 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space addendum document as applies. |
